I felt compelled to share some thoughts with you about feeling powerless, and how writing can help to overcome that.
I’m trying to work out how my book, Unschooled, will end. Much of it is written in real time, it is urgent and I am pouring my life and my heart onto the page. But life is messy, and I am not sure this journey will end in a timely and tidy fashion.
Here I am talking about how writing helps me to have agency in a life where I frequently feel constrained and frustrated by broken systems. I hope that hearing my words will make you feel less alone if you are alone and battling for your child. My words are a gentle form of activism - it is important to me to raise my voice, even on the days when I feel small.
Also: tomorrow at 7.30pm, I’ll be in conversation with my All Fours crew, Layla O'Mara, and for our third discussion through a midlife lens, this time on RAGE. We promise to bring a festive flavour to our fury! We’d love you to join us, festive tipple in hand - here’s the Zoom link for the rage chat, passcode 084758.
