Writing as a carer

A Carer's Week conversation with Caro Giles & Penny Wincer
5

Yesterday I recorded this special conversation with my friend, author Penny Wincer, to mark Carer’s Week. Like me, Penny is a parent-carer, and her beautiful book, Tender: the imperfect art of caring, is a must-read for anyone who cares for another human.

Penny and I talk about the challenges of leading a creative life whilst caring, but also the benefits our experiences bring to our writing, and the joy of being able to pour our hearts onto the page.

We talk specifically about our carer identities, but I think this conversation will be helpful for anyone who finds it very hard to make time for their own creative practice amongst the demands of life.

This is a free post so as many people as possible can listen to our chat. The next Twelve Moons book club for paid subscribers will be posted next week - packed with new words, writing tips, inspiration, prompts and a special visual reading.

Enjoy!
